Apollo Bay school work starting to take shape

Member for Polwarth Terry Mulder inspected work on construction of new buildings at Apollo Bay P-12 College with college principal Tiffany Holt.

NEW BUILDINGS are taking shape at Apollo Bay P-12 College with a redevelopment set to finish at the end of the year.

Member for Polwarth Terry Mulder visited the school last week to observe progress on the $6.3-million development at the college.

Contractors have completed preliminary work on one of two new buildings which will house the school’s senior and primary students.

College principal Tiffany Holt said watching the new school take shape was exciting.

“The framework is all up on the first of two new buildings and some of our internal walls are going in,” she said.

“There’s some window framing that’s been done and part of the roof is going on as well.

“It’s very exciting, basically we can see our new buildings taking shape.”

Ms Holt said the construction had minimal impact on classes.

“It’s been a little difficult in terms of relocating our kids into portables,” she said.

“We have very little shelter and given the weather conditions down here that’s made things a bit challenging.

“But the building really hasn’t disrupted any of our teaching and learning programs.”

The project includes a junior school, new senior building with a library, home economics area and cafeteria, and administration wing.

Ms Holt said contractors hoped to complete most of the project by December.
